As compromising as it sounds, Blackberry, too, has launched their own app store. RIM( Research in Motion_ has finally launched their App world mobile storefront. The amount of apps available at launch was not mentioned ahead of time, however we still have a great deal of surprises in the box.
What can you expects for the costs to be ?
Although there are free programs available, other basic apps will be starting at $2.99 upto $9.99.
This is going to be a challenging case for RIM, as the app store has to be match the simplicity of Apple’s Iphone. In addition, Apple’s apps start at only 99 cents. There are many things that are waging a stringent competition for Blackberry- costs, simplicity of the app, and the workmanhip behind the apps.
The App is known as the “App World” and in order to take advantage of these applications, you will need a compatible device- Bold, Storm, Curve, Pearl- trackwheel models are not included.
How can you purchase these apps?
In order to make purchases for Blackberry apps, you will need a paypal account.
How to access app store?
You have to download the app at mobile.blackberry.com or www.blackberry.com/appworld
You’ll be able to browse for applications by grense and search by name or simply view the top download. You can read reviews, and recommend friends to programs. Where willt hey end up? After you download apps, you can store apps online and restore them over-the-air at nost should you end up losing your device or delete, or change the device.
Personally, I think this is a great endeavour for Blackberry, however the competition in the smart phone still remains intense. The targeted audience for Blackberry is mostly business people, so you can definitely expect to see savvy business apps ( finance calculators, stocks, etc). Blackberry will have to work out something unique, if it actually plans on taking the market along with Apple, which seems a bit unrealistic as of now.
